記憶中知道土風舞這個名詞，已經是上了國中以後的事了，幼稚園和國小低年級管這種手舞足蹈的事叫做唱遊。有聽過唱遊小老師嗎？我就當過，一當還當了三年，直到小三開始有音樂課後，唱遊小老師才改名叫音樂小老師。
不管是唱遊小老師或是音樂小老師，對音樂的感受及敏銳度特別強；也是因為這樣，所以從小到大不是被選進唱遊隊、合唱團，就是被選入舞蹈隊、啦啦隊之類，甚至還自己編舞給班上/組上同學跳呢！
考上高中之後，家中對我參加社團的態度趨向自由開放，所以除了確定被選入合唱團外，光高一我就先後參加了啦啦隊和民俗舞蹈隊。跳完之後本來想應該沒事了，結果高二的體育老師就是啦啦隊和民俗舞蹈隊指導，也是土風舞社指導，我就當然成為她在體育課上的助教，陪她一起教土風舞的雙人舞。
在女校發展舞蹈性社團的一大缺點，就是女生要反串男生、學男生舞步這件事。我是左撇子，對我來說當男生學舞一點問題都沒有，當時身高也夠高，當小助教站在老師旁邊，很明顯就可以識別誰跳男生誰跳女生。
高二一學期只學三首土風舞，然後用抽籤的方式考試打分數，上課教的第一首，就是這首雨中旋律Rhythm of the rain，很簡單的一首雙人舞。整首舞並沒有複雜的基本步，如果真要說有的話，應該是中段的三角轉會讓人混淆吧！只見同學們都卡在三角轉轉不過，老師、我的partner和我就分別去解救她們；說是去解救，其實也就是把兩個人拆開，各帶她們轉過一次，再讓她們合起來跳一次而已。等到大家都練習得差不多了，老師就按下了錄音機，傳來了好聽的Rhythm of the rain：

後來考到了中部的大學，因故無法進入合唱團後，便在土風舞社與話劇社間擺盪不定，也是因為去參加活動時，學長親切地邀我跳了這首雨中旋律Rhythm of the rain，才讓我真的下決定留在土風舞社。如果說每個人加入土風舞社都有個秘而不宣的契機，那麼我想，雨中旋律Rhythm of the rain應該就是我的契機之舞吧！接下來為大家獻上The Cascades（瀑布合唱團）所帶來的雨中旋律Rhythm of the rain，請大家欣賞。
